UCDA Workshop: Intersect—Photography for Designers

Do you want to further develop photography skills, or hone how you look at light and composition? Do some of the settings on your camera mystify you? Visit Portland Oregon and work with higher education photographer Matthew Lester during an intensive day-long workshop focusing on the intersection of photography and design.

Topics will include: understanding the settings on your camera, seeing light and composition, exploring what makes a good image, portraits, and telling a story through photography.

We will discuss the photographic process and create images in various locations. Then we’ll edit and critique the photos, honing our vision. The workshop is limited to a small number of participants for one-on-one attention.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Designers and other creative professionals (in and out of the education field) who photograph along with along other job responsibilities and want to sharpen their photography skills. This workshop is for all levels of experience.

WHAT TO BRING
You will need to bring a DSLR camera and a laptop with photo-editing software. You may want to be sure you bring your battery charger or extra battery.

This is a hands-on workshop that will include several photography assignments, so comfortable shoes are also recommended.
