UCDA Design Collection
Every award winner becomes part of the ever-growing UCDA Design Collection. The curated collection currently contains more than 6,500 award-winning entries from 1971 through today.
UCDA AWARD
The UCDA Award was created in 1995. This stunning award is presented by the UCDA board of directors in recognition of those who have donated their valuable time, service and support to further UCDA’s goals. Individuals receiving this award have significantly contributed to this organization’s success.
Over the last 26 years, the board has presented the award to 21 individuals.
SCHOLARSHIPS
UCDA recognizes the importance of lifelong learning and, as a result, proudly supports members through the dedicated funding of the UCDA Foundation professional development scholarship program. This program provides two opportunities for members to attend the UCDA Design Conference or the UCDA Design Education Summit.
- The UCDA Foundation Professional Development Scholarship covers the registration cost for the UCDA Design Conference.
- The UCDA Foundation Design Education Scholarship is offered to help offset the expense of attending the UCDA Design Education Summit and covers registration, lodging, and travel. This scholarship is supported through the kynamatrix Research Network.
STUDENT POSTER DESIGN INITIATIVE
This year, the theme is Immerse. Students are invited to explore the limitless possibilities of immersive design: from participatory and co-design to digital media technology, gaming, and film production.
This student poster design contest helps promote positive thinking by enabling students to design an original poster for print or online use. We welcome entries as part of a class assignment or done independently by students outside of class.
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of design educators.

MOVING FORWARD (2021)
The UCDA Student Poster Design Initiative is back for the Spring Term 2023.
The Moving Forward student poster design contest helped promote positive thinking by enabling students to design an original poster for print or online use.
VOTE 2020 (2020)
Design educators have the capability to help students get civically involved, and student designers have the power to inspire the public to register to vote in the 2020 local and general elections.
The Vote 2020 student poster design initiative helped promote civil engagement by enabling students to design an original, nonpartisan poster for print or social media use. We welcomed entries as part of a class assignment or done independently by students outside of class.
DESIGN FOR EDUCATION (2015-2019)
Surrounded by energetic students and inspiring scholars, designers working in higher education enjoy a meaningful and worthwhile career. Whether by creating student recruitment materials seen by high school students across the country, a billboard promoting the upcoming sport season, or a poster promoting a campus visit from a Nobel Prize winner, UCDA believes that designers working in education impact the lives of students, university communities, and beyond.
In sharing this belief that design matters, and that university designers and design educators can make a powerful impact in the world, students were encouraged to create a poster that visually communicates this idea loud and clear!
