The Workshop will include:

• 3D Printing Workshop—design and create a tangible object
• A presentation on the inspiration for Proto Buildbar and the resurgence of the makers market and the importance of making things by hand
• Lunch—pizza and salad from the Pizza Factory

According to D. Anthony Botkin of Dayton.com, Proto Buildbar “may be one of the coolest ideas ever. It’s a combination of a coffee shop and bar where people can sit, drink, eat, and let their geek flag fly by building electronics or creating 3D printing projects.” 

3D PRINTING
What is a 3D printer? Simply stated, it’s a machine that can create a real physical object from a computer file by building it one layer at a time with plastics or other materials. Looking to try a 3D printer and seeing what 3D printing is all about? Now is your opportunity to try this technology for yourself and to see what it is all about.

What can you create? Well almost anything you can imagine. It’s really all up to you—and getting started is a lot simpler than you might think. You can browse a huge collection of existing 3D models online then download one you like, size it, pick a color, and print. There are hundreds of thousands of existing models out there, from toys and pop culture figures to tech gadgets and handy tools for around the office or apartment, and the list gets bigger every day.

9:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
3D Printing Workshop
During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to find and create an object that will then be printed using a 3D printer. Additional information will be provided once you register. Please note that attendees will be limited to approximately one-hour of print time per person.
