UCDA : connecting, inspiring, and supporting a creative community in education

UCDA Events app

The UCDA Design Conference utilizes the UCDA Events app as a digital companion to the actual event. The app itself has many useful features and functions and is widely used by event attendees and speakers alike.

One of the engagement features is gamification, where attendees accumulate points based upon various “tasks or challenges” that are described in the UCDA Events app. As a conference sponsor, you receive the number of challenges/tasks associated with your sponsor level. You can also purchase additional challenges.

The best attendees are engaged attendees, and nothing engages people like a little healthy competition. The gamification feature lets you incentivize attendee actions by creating challenges that increase attendance to sessions and special events, boost in-person and virtual traffic to sponsor and exhibitor booths, and more.

There are no right or wrong ways to create a challenge. You are only limited in that the passcode will automatically be in all caps and have a 25 character limit.

Here are a few ways that you can use the challenges to maximize engagement with the UCDA Design Conference attendees:

  1. Booth visits to obtain secret codes. This is a great way to reward attendees for coming to your booth. You can give the code out to all who come or to those who are potential purchasers of your product/service.
  2. Scavenger hunts to find hidden items. This is a great way to encourage attendees to explore your booth, website, environment, etc.
  3. Social challenges to drive connections. Use badge ID numbers, personal trivia answers, or names as the challenge code. This is a great way to reward attendees for meeting with particular people.
  4. Session codes to keep people’s attention through your presentation. The code could be stated at the end of the presentation or could be listed on one of your slides.
