DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+Provides support to Creative Services leadership with developing concepts producing creative in support of University marketing and communication objectives applying knowledge of production processes from concept to completion, which may include print and digital design, photography, graphics and illustration, assuring that each piece strengthens the University's reputation and reinforces institutional key messages internally and externally.
+Serves as an ambassador for the University style guide and supports consistency and quality of messages conveyed. Serves as a knowledgeable brand guardian by having strong understanding with look, feel, voice and overall brand presence across a variety of project types and media. Works collaboratively with the Creative Services team to fulfill daily projects and assignments.
+Implements design projects for clients across the University; consults with clients, as appropriate, on concept, purpose, audience, usage and distribution, assuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule; ensures adherence to production schedules, deadlines and budget while producing accurate and creative materials. Provides excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients. Coordinates production details and attends press checks, as needed, under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Operations.
+Provides graphic and production expertise to peers, department colleagues, and internal clients. Collaborates with Photographic Specialist on image selection. Maintain a high degree of quality control through self-proofing and style guide adherence. Works collaboratively with Traffic Manager to traffic projects, interfacing with clients and vendors as appropriate. Support consistency of product and service expectations across the department.
+Completes daily management of administration systems which include FileMaker, Photoshelter, Marketing Central and Outlook calendar.
+Assists in general office procedures and perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned
+Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
+3-5 graphic design/production experience, preferably in an academic or non-profit environment.
+Must have knowledge of all methods, principles, procedures and techniques, in both traditional and computer graphics and multimedia applications. Must have strong skills in graphic design, an understanding of digital graphics, web creation, and production design, as well as multimedia techniques and principles; and knowledge of photographic techniques.
+Must understand and be familiar with all phases of print production from concept through completion, including prepress techniques, equipment, and software.
+Must be highly proficient in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. A thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Mac general system maintenance.
+Must be a team player with strong creative, conceptual, and media skill with outstanding presentation, organizational and writing skills who is a flexible, upbeat, energetic self-starter and enjoys collaboration with a wide variety of constituencies.
+Must have excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Must have the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment with frequent deadlines.
+Must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the University and a commitment to the University's Catholic/Augustinian heritage, and advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
+Thorough knowledge of Mac and PC hardware and software; digital peripherals (scanners, other digitizers, laser printers, etc.) digital camera's and peripherals; understanding of commercial printing peripherals: RIPs, image setters, color proofing systems, preflight equipment and software; understanding of LAN and Server technology.
+Web experience a plus.
+Experience in a public relations agency, design firm or in-house design setting is highly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL WORK HOURS:
+Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as the demands of the job dictate.
