    This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time UX (User experience) / Graphic Designer position for Extended Campus at Oregon State University (OSU).

    OSU Extended Campus is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization with a commitment to providing access to Oregon State University’s programs of excellence. OSU Extended Campus has three main programmatic areas: OSU Ecampus (online degrees), Open Oregon State (open educational resources), and OSU Summer Session.

    The UX (User experience)/ Graphic Designer provides graphical and UX support for OSU Extended Campus course and development needs. This position works as part of the Course Development and Training (CDT) team, collaborating with faculty, administrators and other clients to design and develop instructional technology and other web-based educational resources for courses and modules. The position is responsible for implementing and managing policies and procedures related to Extended Campus’ visual identity.

    The designer works within the CDT team and will design, edit and assemble course media. The developer will collaborate with instructional designers, multimedia developers and course instructors to design engaging, interactive media to augment students’ abilities to meet learning outcomes.

    45% Graphic Design:
    -Develops visual content for online delivery that promote instructional content for courses offered by Ecampus.
    -Leads the CDT unit’s decisions regarding the visual identity and creation of graphic designs used in courses offered by Ecampus. Leads production of design projects including templates, themes, interfaces, graphics used in motion graphics and videos.
    -Works with teams to provide design project plans, mock-ups, proofs and concepts, process feedback, provide context and consult on design solutions.
    -Designs graphics for the Web, including infographics, and custom landing page features for mobile, tablet and web applications.
    -Develops design assets to be used in animations and motion graphics for videos and other media.
    -Creates graphics and manipulates photos using Adobe Photoshop and produces vector art using Adobe Illustrator. Consult with instructors, instructional designers and multimedia developers to identify video, graphics, and multimedia needs.
    -Design and create computer graphics, diagrams and illustrations to be used in Ecampus courses and programs.
    -Creates interactive digital graphics and illustrations using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, etc.).

    40% UX Design:
    -Working with instructors and other members of the CDT team, translate concepts into wireframes, behavioral specifications, personas, and mockups that lead to intuitive user experiences.
    -Design elegant solutions to complex workflows that take a user-centered design approach.
    -Facilitate instructor and team’s visions by researching, conceiving, wireframing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences.
    -Act as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered perspective

    10% Strategic Planning and Leadership:
    -Provides expertise and understanding of strategic design to engage in long-term strategic planning within CDT. Works with CDT and Extended Campus to plan and develop specific projects that meet the educational mission of OSU Extended Campus and the university.
    -Acts as a point person for CDT course branding and visual identity. Teaches CDT colleagues how to effectively utilize graphic approaches.
    -Shares knowledge from research and creative work with colleagues in CDT about graphic and UX design trends.

    5% Professional Development and Service:
    -Serves as a member of OSU Extended Campus teams. Provides service to OSU and the land grant system by working on departmental, division, university, regional and national committees and projects, serving as a representative of OSU Extended Campus and the CDT team.
    -Participates as a member of the CDT team by attending meetings, participating in team decision making, implementing solutions to team challenges as a member of the multimedia team, and assisting with other team functions. Service may include other duties as assigned to support and provide back up the CDT team.
    -Attends professional workshops and meetings, sharing knowledge and networking with other professionals. Represents OSU Extended Campus at forums, workshops, trade shows, customer meetings, and other opportunities for constituents and clients. Participates in and provides technical cross-training.

    -6+ Years of Graphic Design experience OR Associates Degree + 5 years of Graphic Design experience Bachelors Degree + 4 years of Graphic Design experience Degree may be in Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Fine Art, or closely related field.

    -Excellent visual design skills.
    -Significant UX design and multimedia/web design experience.
    -Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software titles (including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
    -Experience working successfully on collaborative teams. Evidence of strong leadership skills. Exemplary oral and written communication skills. Strong understanding of fundamental design principles.
    -Experience with accessible design. Experience working with a diverse group of people/teams.
    -A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

    -Education, professional development, or experience with learning science and pedagogy as it relates to graphic design, such as emotional design.
    -Experience and understanding of graphic design/ux in higher education, specifically in relation to online learning.
    -Experience with developing and implementing strategic design plans for a unit or organization.
    -Experience with motion design and developing motion graphics.
    -Three or more years of experience in a full-time, professional graphic design position.
    -Evidence of commitment to professional development.
