Susan Ramey:
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and experiences.

Michael Lewis:
I teach on a campus of statewide technical college in Texas. I am the only Black faculty member in the system. Three years ago I served as the head of our Visual Comm department teaching graphic design. It took about 15 years to get to that position. I was demoted to “instructional business manager” and a white faculty member was made statewide department chair. Now, due to COVID-19, that our program is completely online. What would you suggest I do to recruit more black/brown students?

Michael Lewis:
Are you guys being asked to participate in the recruitment of black students? If so, in what way and what are you doing?

Liz Underwood:
Q: Not exactly a design specific question but…As a white person who would like to seek more diverse voices in work and in volunteer roles, is there a best way to reach out without coming across as offensive or as though I’m looking for a “token”? I don’t want the worry of being offensive to keep me (or colleagues) from hearing more voices!

Michael Lewis:
Thank you Michael and Kathy!
