UCDA : connecting, inspiring, and supporting a creative community in education
page header

All members are invited to join UCDA Members Slack Workspace to connect, ask questions, and generate discussions with fellow members.

What makes the UCDA Slack Workspace unique?

Offering channels focused on design and areas of interest to our members, UCDA Members Slack Workspace is also a place where members can share some of the things that make our community special.

Slack is a messaging app that connects people—and in UCDA’s case—a way for our members to celebrate their wins, commiserate with the community, talk through issues you might have, and to give and receive valuable advice and ideas to your fellow members.

The key to productivity in Slack is organized spaces called channels—a different one for everything you’re working on. With all the people, messages and files related to a topic in one place, you can move a whole lot faster.

Just a few of the channels in the UCDA Slack Workspace include:

#critique: a safe place for designers to share their work and receive feedback from other members

#design-educators: a space for design educators to share knowledge, experiences, and peer review.

#lone-designers: for those who are from a one-person (or small) office to discuss the trials and tribulations of being a lone graphic designer about the issues they face

#jobs: a place where members can post job opening or job descriptions, and share any job leads that would apply to our group

#licensing: discussion about brand licensing practices and procedures

#mentoring: what do you want to do when you grow up? Ask questions and share expertise

#tips-and-tricks: for all your little shortcuts, plug-ins, and general magic-working

#workspace: share your current workspace with the group! Working from home, back in the office, or a mobile setup

#creative-conversations: for folks who attend our Creative Conversations meetings and want to continue the conversation after the meeting ends

...and many more!

How do I get started?

You have to be a UCDA member (learn more here) to join the Slack Workspace to exchange ideas with fellow members.

Request an invitation. If you are currently a UCDA member who has not yet joined the Slack Workspace, email info@ucda.com or Brian at YOHNB1@erau.edu to receive an invitation.

Here is Brian Yohn, UCDA board member and president, providing an overview of the UCDA Members Slack Workspace.

If you’re interested in learning about the basics, the Slack introductory page will help you set up a profile, join conversations, and more.

Did you know? Slack has a great searchable history feature. If you’re new to a channel and want to know if a topic has already been discussed, you can easily narrow down and find what you need, and even join in on the conversation.
