UCDA Design Education Summit: Things to Know

Thank you for registering for the Virtual UCDA Design Education Summit—a national summit for design educators, chairs, and students, and continues an ongoing community created specifically for graphic design educators with opportunities for professional participation and development during this online event.

As we prepare for the upcoming program, we hope this information enhances your experience.

The schedule below can help you protect and preserve your time. Note that all times are in North America Eastern Time.

We start mid-morning at 11 a.m. Eastern (we have found this is the best overall time to allow different time zones to join us). Given this start time, we have only scheduled short breaks (no long lunch break), so plan to have water, coffee, and snacks on hand.

SUMMIT PASS

The Summit Pass gets you access to all the scheduled summit presentations during the event; access to the event dashboard and app, mailed flat swag, and access to the Help Desk. ALL ACCESS In addition to everything included with the Summit Pass, the All Access (AA) add-on gets you access to the summit presentation recordings (through December 31).

All UCDA Design Education Summit content and links are available on the Summit Dashboard and the UCDA Events App. We recommend using the Chrome browser for the best user experience.

Please log on BY END OF DAY FRIDAY to ensure you can connect. If you have issues, please contact us to help remedy the issue so you are ready for registration on Monday and the beginning of the event.

INSTRUCTIONS
After the dashboard and/or app is installed, please sign up and setup your profile. Important: Use the same email for the app that you used to register for the UCDA Design Education Summit.

After you finish setting up your profile, you will be redirected to the Events page. Select the UCDA Design Education Summit 2021 event and select Join Now.

PLATFORMS

ZOOM
With most virtual events, video is one-way. This makes it more difficult for the speakers and attendees to be engaged and feel connected.

We ask that you enable your webcam during the Zoom portions of the event, as the UCDA team, as well as your fellow attendees can see you and feel your energy, making these three days fun and a valuable experience you can be a part of.

Helpful hint: So we all know who you are and where you are from, please change your name on the Zoom platform:

Be aware of your surroundings. If you need a restroom break, be sure to turn off your webcam if you take your device with you. Also pay attention to what is in your background and in view of your webcam.

WEBINAR JAM
Most of the UCDA Design Education Summit presentations will be provided on the Webinar Jam platform. No participant webcams are available, but we encourage you to use the chat area to connect with the speakers and other attendees.

SCHEDULE

The program schedule is available throughout the dashboard: Under the Agenda tab, in the Program and Abstracts (PDF in the digital swag) and the Schedule At-a-Glance (PDF in the digital swag and downloadable here). Check for announcements on any schedule changes.

Please note: Although specific times are listed for each presentation, sometimes presentations run longer or shorter than the given time. We will try our best to start on time after each break, but concurrent session starting times within each block may vary slightly.
